MIXED MEDIA and SCULPTURE

Apart from painting and drawing, I also produced sculpture and mixed media works. During my time studying sculpture at the School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA), I produced a portfolio of sculptural works based on the theme of everyday junk and material manipulation. In the process of this investigation, my ideas took the form of different mediums as I explored ceramics, print and textiles. I hoped to bring life to everyday materials, especially those that are supposedly toxic to our environment, and explored the ephemerality of materials, and how they may be revived when cast aside as 'useless' within our society. Even till now, I find myself thinking about the uses of discarded teabags, of candy wrappers and the empty drink can you are holding onto now, and how they may be converted into new existences, in art.
